This review provides valuable insights into hard exudates (HEs), which serve as important markers of various retinal pathologies and are closely linked to visual prognosis. Understanding their common mimics is essential for accurate identification and differentiation, as this plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of retinal and systemic diseases. Early detection using advanced imaging techniques, combined with timely and targeted therapeutic interventions, is vital for preventing vision loss. Ongoing research into the pathophysiology and treatment of HEs will continue to improve clinical outcomes and preserve visual function.Abstract
